Born Learning Trails

United Way Born Learning is a set of tools that equip parents, caregivers, and communities to create early learning opportunities for young children. Born Learning trails are a well-proven United Way community engagement and improvement tool; there are currently 750 such trails across the United States, but none are in Minnesota north of Elbow Lake - yet.

Step Into School

UWNEMN's Step Into School program takes qualified Koochiching County students shopping to pick out a new pair of properly fitted athletic shoes for the school year.

Prior to shopping, families and students gather for a community meal where they connect with their local emergency personnel and may even enjoy a ride to the shoe store in a fire truck!

Meet Up and Chow Down

Meet Up and Chow Down is United Way of Northeastern Minnesota's free summer lunch program for children on the Iron Range, provided through support from the USDA and Minnesota Department of Education's Summer Food Service Program.

Volunteers handed out more 10,230 free lunches at public sites across the region June 3-August 29, 2024.
