Community Resiliency

United Way of Northeastern Minnesota prioritizes maintaining the most essential resources for the safety and security of our community members. We aim for needs to be met promptly and with compassion in crisis, with thoughtful consideration given to help people become self-sufficient once stabilized. 

Targeted Issue: Hunger and Food Access

Goals and Objectives:

  • Prevent people in our community from experiencing hunger.

Strategies:

  • Invest in programs that provide access to food for individuals and families at-risk of being food insecure.
  • Support food shelves and hunger-relief programs.

 

Targeted Issue: Domestic violence, sexual assault, and sexual exploitation/trafficking

Goals and Objectives:

  • Ensure communities are focused on prevention and offer educational programs on domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or trafficking.
  • Ensure individuals who experiences domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or sexual exploitation/trafficking has access to resources and support.
  • Decreased number of people experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or sexual exploitation/trafficking.

Strategies:

  • Support programs that provide education, prevention, supportive services, crisis intervention and/or emergency shelter related to domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or sexual exploitation/trafficking.

 

Targeted Issue: Transportation 

Goals and Objectives:

  • Ensure individuals have safe and reliable transportation to work in order to maintain employment. 
  • Ensure individuals have safe and reliable transportation to medical appointments.

Strategies:

  • Invest in programs that provide transportation to work and/or medical appointments.

  • Invest in programs that eliminate barriers to safe and reliable transportation to work and/or medical appointments.
